No more work from home for UAE federal government employees from May 16

The circular exempts female employees who have children enrolled in distance learning until the end of the current school year.

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR), in coordination with the General Secretariat of the Cabinet Affairs, and the Ministry of Health & Prevention on Monday, issued a circular regarding organising the governmental work in all the federal bodies.

According to the circular, all the existing exemptions granted to federal government employees, including permission to work from home, due to emergency conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic, will be ended as of Sunday, May 16, 2021.

The circular exempts female employees who have children enrolled in distance learning until the end of the current school year.

UAE announces work from home policy for mothers as schools reopen

FAHR also announced that unvaccinated employees will be required to undergo mandatory PCR testing every week at their own expense.

The work body will pay the PCR test fees in case the employee have a medical report exempting him from being vaccinated, due to an illness or health condition, according to FAHR.

The circular called on all federal government bodies to adhere to all safety measures and follow the "The Guidelines for Office and Workplace Environment during Emergency Conditions" issued by the FAHR, and to all other related instructions, with the emphasis on social distancing.
