India unveils unique Dubai Expo 2020 pavilion, highlighting heritage and tech achievements
India unveiled its Expo 2020 pavilion on Wednesday in a ceremony held at the Expo site in Dubai, highlighting its heritage and technological achievements.
In a press conference, Pavan Kapoor, Ambassador of India to the UAE said, “The Indian pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai is fully prepared to receive millions of visitors to the event with an innovative design and a full program of events and activities.”
He also said, “With over 50,000 startups in India, we'll be offering an amazing opportunity for focusing investors with startups at the India Pavilion…”
He also mentioned that the India Pavilion of Expo 2020 Dubai will come out with a very interesting idea called the India Innovation Hub, which is going to be a unique mobile platform where young bright minds from India will be engaging with global counterparts.
The Indian pavilion participating in the Expo exhibition displayed during the media briefing in an innovative way the ancient history of India, its archaeological monuments and its cultural symbols.
The land area of the Indian Pavilion is 4,614 square metres, the height of the building is 27 metres, and the total built-up area is 8,700 square metres, which is the largest ever in the history of its participation in international exhibitions.
The pavilion features an innovative kinetic facade consisting of 600 individual coloured blocks, developed as a mosaic of rotating panels that display different themes as they rotate on their axis.
The pavilion represents the concept of “India on the Move” and is a unique blend of rich heritage and technological advancements.
The government of India has allocated a budget of Dhs250 million to participate in the event, including the cost of setting up the pavilion and operating costs within six months.
