In today’s session, we approved new regulations and systems for preserving industrial property

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, chaired a cabinet meeting at Expo 2020 Dubai.

Sheikh Mohammed said, “Today, I chaired the first meeting of the Council of Ministers... A good and blessed start on a blessed Friday. Our first decision was to start implementing our plan to change the methodology of the federal government’s work… more transformational projects and full focus on creating the most active and better economy in the world.”

He said, “The beginning of the new government changes will be announced soon… changes that include granting ministries greater powers to adopt their plans...more financial flexibility and shorter strategic cycles... national priorities based on the fifty principles adopted by the President of the UAE, for the next fifty years.

“Today, within the cabinet meeting, we approved the issuance of a new law for sports in the country, a law that comprehensively regulates the sports movement, including sports councils, federations, Olympic committees, and others.

“Today, we have adopted the regulations for labour relations in the country to guarantee rights, raise efficiency, and regulate new forms of work such as freelance, flexible, temporary work, golden residency holders, and others.. We have 12 types of work permits in our new laws ... Our goal is to establish the best, most flexible and diversified business environment.

In today’s session, we approved new regulations and systems for preserving industrial property and inventions related to the defense industries and mechanisms for accelerating patent registration and preserving the rights to research microorganisms and others… The diversification of our economy requires the diversity and breadth of our legislation, and we are legislatively ready for a different and upcoming economic stage.“
