Embassy warns Indians against fake social media handles operating in its name
The Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi has warned Indians not to fall victims to fake social media handles offering travel services from the UAE to India.
The Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi has issued a notice in which it says “it has been brought to the notice of the Embassy that some people are cheating innocent Indian nationals by sending messages and collecting money to arrange their travel from the UAE to India through the twitter handle "@embassy_help" and email ID email@example.com.
The notice informed all Indian nationals that Embassy of India Abu Dhabi has NO affiliation whatsoever with the twitter handle "@embassy_help" and email ID firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Embassy’s notice further says that all the official email IDs, Twitter handle, Facebook ID, telephone numbers etc. of the Embassy of India are mentioned on its website https://www.indembassyuae.gov.in/.
The embassy also advised Indians in the UAE to cross check particulars of e-mail IDs and social media accounts of the Embassy from its website to avoid falling into the trap of unscrupulous elements. Kindly note that email IDs of all Indian Missions/Posts always end with domain @mea.gov.in
