According to Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Alai Al Naqbi, Director of Traffic and Patrols Department, the 50 per cent discount on traffic fines enables motorists to settle their old fines before the discount scheme takes effect from April 1.
The discount will be applicable to all fines registered before March 31, 2023 except for serious traffic violations, he said, calling on motorists and vehicle owners to take advantage of the decision to settle their old traffic fines.
Al Naqbi pointed out that motorists can settle their traffic fines through the Sharjah Police app, the Ministry of Interior app (MOI UAE) and the Sahl devices available in the emirate’s police stations and shopping malls.
According to the executive decision, which will come into effect from April, perpetrators of traffic violations will be exempted by 35% if they are paid within 60 days from the date of committing the violation, and the scope of exemption includes a financial fine, a vehicle reservation allowance, and all delay fines, if any.
The motorists of traffic violations are exempted by 25% upon payment, after 60 days have passed, and before one year has passed from the date of committing the violation, and the scope of exemption includes the financial fine only.
According to the decision, the payment of the financial fine for the violation of vehicle impoundment will be made in full, if the violator paid after one year has passed from the date of committing the traffic violation.
