COVID Pandemic: Yesterday’s death toll in Italy hit 475, highest for 24 hours

The government lockdown banned all non-essential travel, but allowed people to take daily exercise

The death toll of the people succumbing to COVID-19 has increased to 2,978, an increase of 19%. 475 people died yesterday, a count which is the highest in the country for 24 hours.

The number of persons reported of the disease has increased to 35,713 from 31,506.

The government lockdown banned all non-essential travel, but allowed people to take daily exercise, if they needed to.

Officials warned that if the incidence of new cases did not slow in the coming days, they might extend the lockdown already in place, both in terms of the types of restrictions and how long they will continue.
