A boy from Bangladesh locked himself in a shipping container while playing hide and seek with his friends in the port city of Chittagong on January 11.

As kids, we might have played the fun game of hide and seek with our friends and cousins. Many of us might have even received clear instructions from our elders on keeping the game within certain boundaries of our location. Though it surely sounded lame at the time, looking back, we might be in a position to understand their concerns and worries at the time. Well, safety is the major reason. Recently, one child had to pay a heavy price after an innocent game of hide and seek. The child literally landed in another country.

A 15-year-old boy from Bangladesh found himself in another country a week after he locked himself in a shipping container during a game of hide and seek.

The teenager identified as Fahim was playing with his friends in the port city of Chittagong on January 11. Though he got into the container as part of the game, the boy fell asleep. To his bad luck, the container was loaded into a commercial ship to Malaysia. Six days later, he was found starved and dehydrated inside the container.

A Reddit video of the boy's rescue showed how the unintended journey about 2,300 miles away from his country impacted his health.

When he was found by officials, the boy had a fever, according to the New York Post. He was soon taken to a hospital for examination.

“The boy was just believed to have entered the container, fell asleep, and found himself here,” said Malaysian Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail to Bernama, a Malaysian media outlet.

Meanwhile, police initially suspected the boy's case to be a human trafficking scheme. However, it was later dismissed.
