A woman has gone viral and left netizens baffled after claiming that her landlord charged her an extra $200 (Rs 12,000) for keeping a gold fish along with an extra $15 a month for 'pet rent.'

Unsurprisingly, the clip has now been watched by millions of TikTokers and shared on other platforms as well.

"They're now charging pet rent for fishes?" Nic wrote on TikTok.

The rental fee includes a one-off payment of $200, on top of a ‘monthly pet rent’ at $15. It says under restrictions, " Fish: Allowed. Restrictions: No aggressive breeds".

Much like Nic, even her followers were shocked over the required payments. Many viewers slammed the landlord for being greedy.

A user wrote, "These apartments are out of control with their damn fees.”

"Didn’t think you needed permission for a fish lol," wrote a second user.

Soon, many started sharing their own rental woes.

“I got charged a 150 dollar fee cuz I had a fish when I moved in and didn’t disclose it cuz I didn’t think it mattered,” a third user wrote.

"I had a shrimp in a small tank they tried to charge me I said it was food so they couldn’t charge me," wrote a fourth user.

"Oh so me and my pet shark are supposed.

Some user said the landlord was charging such a hefty fee as there's always a risk of the fish bowl breaking and causing damage.
